From ทรัพย์ (sáp, “possessions; wealth; valuable; etc”) + สิน (sǐn, “possession; wealth; valuable; etc”). The first sense was probably first used on 11 November 1923, when the first book of the Civil and Commercial Code of Thailand was promulgated.
