Built from
From Pre-Angkorian Old Khmer កេត៑ (ket), កេត្ត៑ (kett, “to bring into existence; to come into existence; etc”), which later became into Middle Khmer កេត~កើត~កេត្រ~កើត្រ (keta~kœta~ketra~kœtra), cognate with Modern Khmer កើត (kaət); extended as កំនេត (kaṃneta), កុំនេត (kuṃneta), etc, from which กำเนิด (gam-nə̀ət) is derived, and as បង្កេត៑ (paṅket), from which บังเกิด is derived. Cognate also with Lao ເກີດ (kœ̄t), Lü ᦵᦂᦲᧆ (k̇oed), Northern Thai ᨠᩮᩥ᩠ᨯ, Shan ၵိူတ်ႇ (kòet), which possibly borrowed from Ayutthaya Old Thai or contemporary Middle Khmer.
