Cognate with Northern Thai ᨡ᩶ᩣ᩠ᨦ (as in ᨡᩦ᩶ᨡ᩶ᩣ᩠ᨦ, ᩈ᩠ᩅ᩶ᨦᨡ᩶ᩣ᩠ᨦ), Lao ຂ້າງ (khāng), Shan ၶၢင်ႈ (khāang) and ၶၢင်း (kháang), Tai Nüa ᥑᥣᥒᥲ (xàang), Phake ၵ︀င︀် (khaṅ), Ahom 𑜁𑜂𑜫 (khaṅ) or 𑜁𑜞𑜂𑜫 (khraṅ), Zhuang hangj in ndokhangj (“ribs”) (dialectal), Zuojiang Zhuang hangj. Compare Proto-Austronesian *baʀaŋ, *tageʀaŋ (“rib”).
